About Me:
This will be my 5th semester in the IDT program. I earned my B.A. in English from KU, and I earned my B.A. in Secondary Ed from UMKC. I grew up in Newton, Kansas, the child of high school teachers/ administrators. I follow in my parents' footsteps as an educator and youth advocate.

I currently teach 11th and 12th grade English at F.L. Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Our district has a 1:1 laptop program for high school students, with students receiving a Macbook to use at school and home for the school year. I love exploring the array of teaching and learning tools available to us because of the technology initiative.

I am also involved in the Greater Kansas City Writing Project (GKCWP) as the ELL Program Coordinator and Web Admin. I have been redesigning the GKCWP website using what I have learned from my IDT courses. I am temporarily publishing it on my Emporia student site. I will link it below here. Feel free to offer constructive criticism! I would welcome any input on design or anything else. It is clearly still under construction. I am hoping to launch it this fall.

As for the future, I am open to suggestions! :) I do not plan to stay in Kansas City much longer. I do plan to remain involved with young people and technology no matter where I end up. Working with my students in Kansas City, Kansas has been the most rewarding experience. I am passionate about connecting with urban and at-risk students, so I expect to go where there is need. I love my job!
