I'm interested in outsourcing a bunch of hosted video to a YouTube/Vimeo/Blip.tv-type site, but I know many school firewalls block these services. The materials aren't for kids or for classroom activity; they're for teachers and administrators for purposes of professional development. That said, I'm wondering if those of you who are teachers can help me pick a video service that would be more likely than the others to get through your firewall. I'm shying away from TeacherTube because, like I said, this isn't classroom-oriented stuff, but I'd appreciate any other suggestions.
Aaron-it is probably too late for your project, but I feel our district is very block-happy and we don't block TeacherTube or Vimeo. I think either of those would get through a firewall.
My former school district started allowing YouTube last year (with disclaimers regarding appropriate content and use of potentially illegal materials). It should get through and should be fine, especially since it isn't being used for classroom instruction.
