I'm apt to agree with this with technology in general. It reminds me of an argument Bill Gates made once, stating that kids should start using Windows out of the womb because that's what they'll use when they grow up and get jobs--but who knows what computers will look like in 20 years, and how we'll interact with them?

YES! YES! YES!
Teach me how to use a very specific kind of fishing pole - I fish until that pole becomes obsolete. Teach me the principles of fishing and I can fish regardless of the pole or whatever technology that emerges to catch fish.
To tie this to IDT... less tools and more theory please. I don't want to learn flash in IDT, I want to learn how flash apps affect learning. I don't want to learn HTML in IDT, I want to learn how my HTML pages affect learning.
The market is glutted w/ folks learning how to create flash apps. What the market is DESPERATE for is people who understand how people learn from flash apps.
