Each year, the report identifies and describes six areas of emerging technology likely to have a significant impact on teaching, learning, or creative expression in higher education within three adoption horizons: a year or less, two to three years, and four to five years.

Which technologies do think will have the greatest impact on teaching and learning?

Of the technologies cited in the report, I think that mobiles and cloud computing are tied to be the greatest impact in teaching and learning. I also think these two technologies go hand-in-hand as well. All mobile computing is best when utilizing the cloud, so users are able to access their information from anywhere, and on many different devices. Since the iPhone, many universities are creating apps and many others are going toward cloud computing by moving all student email to Google apps and gmail, or Microsoft's live@edu products, making it easier to access email from a mobile device.

Now with the onset of other platforms like the iPhone (Google's Android & the Palm Pre) I think this has the potential to explode, and would be a great way for educational institutions to put themselves above others.
