Quick Survey about ESU IDT Ning

Started by Marcus Childress Feb 25. 0 Replies

IDT Students and Alumni:Several years ago (when Ning was still free and before Facebook came on the scene), we created an ESU IDT Ning site so:1) ESU IDT students would create an online presence for their courses once (and not have to create a Blackboard student page/introduction for each and every class, each and every semester).2) ESU IDT alumni would have a place to stay connected after graduation.3) We would have a place to disseminate ESU IDT information, events, and job/internship opportunities among ESU IDT students and alumni.4) We would have a place for ESU IDT students and alumni to build a sense of community and exchange ideas. After testing an OPEN IDT Ning community, we soon found that we needed to make it exclusive to ESU IDT (too many creepy people on the web). All this happened just as Facebook began to take root.  Today, we have over 500 students and alumni in our ESU IDT Ning community. For the past three years, Ning has moved to a subscription (pay) service and we are now paying $239 per year for our Ning site. $239 is a small price to pay so that we can stay connected with IDT students and alumni; however, I would now like to ask the question: Should we continue with our IDT Ning site? (Don't worry, we don't renew until August). I would like to hear what you have to say. Please take some time click the survey link below to let us know what you think!https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TL878NS(I put this survey together very quickly. So, forgive me if my survey construction isn't perfect). Many thanks!  ESU IDT ROCKS THE WORLD!M. ChildressContinue

Free Atomic Learning Video Tutorials from IDT

Started by Marcus Childress Jan 29. 0 Replies

IDT students, faculty, staff, and alumni:Don't forget about your free access to Atomic Learning video tutorials - brought to you FREE by ESU IDT – The gift that keeps on giving! The Department of Instructional Design and Technology has a license for Atomic Learning (also known as the poor man's Lynda.com) as an online software training resource for IDT students, faculty, staff, and alumni. I tried to get Lynda but it would have cost us thousands.I believe this can be a tremendous resource for those of you who need just in time training for our courses or simply for lifelong learning! To begin using Atomic Learning, please follow these steps:Go to http://www.atomiclearning.com/highed/Log in using the following information:Username: didtPassword: esuNow, if you wish to make a donation to so that we can purchase a Lynda site license in the future – go to https://secure.touchnet.com/C20725_ustores/web/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=46Enter an amount and designate IDT Hospitiality Fund - #520936, or if you wish to give to the IDT scholarship fund, designate IDT Scholarship Fund - #120935Let's see, where was I? Oh…Please do not share this username and password with anyone outside of IDT and never post it anywhere on the Internet, as this will make Atomic Learning very angry at me. Plus, this will violate our user agreement/license. I don’t think I would cope very well in a federal prison. But if you decide to violate the agreement, let me know so that I can get all tatted up and start working out.M. ChildressContinue
